The Parent School Alliance (PSA) is our Parent-Teacher Association. The PSA offers its support to the efforts of the teachers and administrators so that the students may receive the utmost benefit from their education. The PSA accomplishes this goal in three ways, by:
- Promoting an understanding of Maria Montessori’s philosophy;
- Providing a forum for parents to communicate the needs of their children and families to the administration; and to offer solutions in a spirit of cooperation; and
- Providing ideas and organizing the raising of funds for the school.
Parent participation is welcome in all classes except Toddlers and guided by the needs of each particular class. Teachers provide sign-up sheets and post opportunities on classroom bulletin boards that give parents/guardians (and aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc.) a variety of opportunities to volunteer in the classroom (e.g. artist/composer of the month activities, cooking projects, field trip chaperones, etc.) or to assist with other aspects of classroom life (e.g. bringing flowers for flower arranging or food for the classroom animals, etc.).
All parents of children at the school are automatically members of PSA and are encouraged to participate in PSA committee meetings and events.
