Bonnie Bracken

Bonnie Stevens Bracken was born and raised in Salt Lake City, marrying Jason Bracken in the summer of 2006. Bonnie received her Montessori education through Montessori World Education Institute and the Utah Montessori Teacher Education Program. She also completed AMS Montessori training at Westminster College. Bonnie has been teaching in the Lower Elementary classroom since 2000, and she loves the creative thinkers at this age! Bonnie's involvement in Montessori Community School started back in 1990. Although Bonnie is a graduate of Utah State University, she is an ardent supporter of the University of Utah football team. Bonnie likes hiking, boating, reading, going to the movies, cooking, playing sports and watching football. Bonnie enjoys traveling and has been to Japan, Mexico and Costa Rica. She loves the Oregon coastline most of all. A little known fact about Bonnie: she learned to swim before she could walk. 

Diana Haro

Diana was born in Mexico City and emigrated to Utah as a child. She and her husband Jonathan have two children, Pablo and Catalina, who currently attend MCS. Diana began working at Montessori Community School in 2007 and immediately fell in love with the school and the Montessori Method. She received her AMS Lower Elementary certification through Westminster. Diana is passionate about her culture, children, and education. In her free time she enjoys spending time in the woods with her kids and husband, reading, drawing, and painting.

Ruth Jennings

A native of the UK, Ruth has a degree in French and German from Oxford University, England. After graduating, she moved to Louisiana where her two young sons attended the Montessori School for Shreveport.  She joined their staff as a part-time French teacher, and became interested in teaching at the Elementary level. She obtained her Montessori Elementary I Teaching Credential from the North Carolina Center for Montessori Teacher Education (AMS)  in 1997 while living in Germantown, Tennessee. She has since worked at Montessori schools in Tennessee, New Jersey and North Carolina. She joined MCS in 2013 as an LE Teacher in Wasatch class. She gets immense satisfaction from watching children develop their skills and their love of learning over the three year cycle. In her free time, Ruth enjoys writing, calligraphy, yoga, playing the piano, reading, and travel. 

Joshi Haskell

Montessori Teacher - Uinta

Joshi has worked as a Montessori Middle School Teacher since 2009. A former Montessori student, she received a Bachelor's of Science from the University of Utah in 2005. In 2012 she completed the NAMTA/AMI Introduction to Adolescent Studies in Cleveland, OH. In 2016 she completed the CMSTEP Curriculum course. She has enjoyed working with students throughout her life as a Secondary Montessori Teacher, Physio-Neuro Therapist, nanny, tutor, as well as an art and physical education specialist. In her spare time, Joshi enjoys being outdoors, creating art, and spending time with her husband, family and friends.

Donda Hartsfield

Extended Day Teacher - Uinta

Donda Hartsfield was born in Amarillo where she grew up learning to love the high plains of Texas. She studied the arts at USU and practiced massage therapy for 6 years.   When  Donda’s son started going to the Montessori Community School when he was three and a half, she was immediately taken with the Montessori method and over time decided to go through the Utah Montessori Teacher Education Program (UMTEP) to get her certification in Early Childhood Montessori method.  Donda started out teaching yoga and creative movement in Montessori.  In 2005, Donda began teaching at the Montessori Community School as she also started the Great Outdoors Expedition program for elementary.  In 2009, Donda initiated the Outdoor Classroom for Early Childhood where she delights in seeing children thriving in their natural environment.  Donda has completed both the Project Wild as well as the Project Learning Tree courses for teachers, which continue to inspire her natural studies.  One of Donda’s favorite things is eating yummy food while she dances to music that she loves. Little known fact: Donda starred in Neil Simon’s comedy play Star Spangled Girl in her early twenties.

Nate Lewis

Lewis-Nate-1Extended Day Teacher - Wasatch

Nate Lewis was born and raised in Salt Lake City and is the oldest of three children. He has worked at the Montessori Community School for several years, but has been a part of the MCS community for far longer. As a student Nate attended MCS for both the Early Childhood and Middle School programs, and after graduating from the Salt Lake School for Performing Arts Nate returned to MCS as a staff member. In his free time Nate enjoys reading, music, art, film, and spending his time with his friends.

Carson Woodard

Assistant Teacher - Uinta

Carson loves his dog and writing when he has free time. Carson snowboards in the winter and has a passion for birds of prey and falconry. Carson has attended some college. What he likes about MCS is the open and independent learning it gives children.
